An Australian-born furniture designer and maker, Calan is now based in the United States.
Calan’s path into furniture began in Brisbane, where he studied interior design. While learning to shape entire spaces, he discovered a deeper calling that connected with his past experiences as a maker: crafting the individual objects that bring those spaces to life. Furniture offered something more tactile, more intimate - furniture that stirs emotion, redefines utility, and leaves a lasting legacy.
Years of hands-on work with experienced makers, paired with personal exploration, sharpened his skills and design language. In 2024, Calan made a decisive leap, relocating to the United States and stepping away from a conventional career path to pursue furniture-making full time. It was a commitment to creating functional art: objects that blend function with joy and artistry.
